Your pet's annual veterinary check-up will include a total physical exam, with a thorough investigation of your pet from head to tail. Laboratory testing is often recommended to discover problems early.  Because pets cannot tell us if they are feeling poorly and often times will not show signs until they are very sick it is important to screen for major organ problems annually after the age of 7 years.  We will often find problems related to the kidneys and liver which can be treated if discovered early.  The most common problem in dogs and cats is dental disease. Even the most cooperative pet may not allow regular brushing and a yearly dental cleaning is often necessary to keep teeth and gums healthy.
