Stem Cell Therapy

Stem cell therapy is an exciting new way to help dogs with chronic arthritis pain.  This procedure has shown great promise in alleviating pain in older patients with painful arthritis conditions.  The best part is the procedure is an alternative to drug therapy for pets who cannot tolerate pain medications or whose owners are looking for an alternative to drugs.  Some pets need a combination of stem cell therapy as well as pain medications to adequately control their pain.  Regenerative stem cell therapy uses cells extracted from the animal's own fat, not embryonic stem cells.  The fat is harvested during a short surgical procedure and then shipped overnight to the laboratories at Vet-Stem in California.  At the lab, the stem cells are extracted and formulated to fit into a syringe.  The cells are then shipped overnight back to us and then we inject those cells into the painful joints.

The addition of stem cells into a joint prompts the body to start to heal itself.  In the early stages of arthritis it may even encourage the body to regrow cartilage.  The cost for the procedure is $2400.  If you are interested please call or email for more information.
